So I modeled\/simulated honey pouring&nbsp;over a ball and rendered it photo realistic with cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"http:\/\/piezewieter.synology.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/honey1-1024x911.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-191\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>I started to fool around in 3D Blender with particles and metaballs, until I discovered the build in fluid simulator which is a bit easier to manage, less to configure..&nbsp;After lots of tweaking with resolution, smoothing, viscosity and recalculating&nbsp;the solution over and over I&#8217;m quite pleased with the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"303\" src=\"http:\/\/piezewieter.synology.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/honey2-1024x303.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/piezewieter.synology.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/honey2-1024x303.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/piezewieter.synology.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/honey2-300x89.jpg 300w, https:\/\/piezewieter.synology.me\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/honey2-768x228.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To smooth the simulation I used&nbsp;the corrective smooth modifier<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The material used for the honey took some fiddling, I got best results using&nbsp;a mix shader with glass and refraction as input (both IOR 1.5) for the surface and a volume absorption shader with ray depth and a multiplier for controlling the density.
